From Jewish Federation of Greater Dallas, Jewish Family Service and the Aaron Family JCC

Dear friend,
Since our individual agency emails, less than 48 short hours ago, there have been numerous developments to the ever-evolving status of COVID-19 in Dallas. It is important to the Jewish Federation of Greater Dallas, Jewish Family Service and the Aaron Family JCC to share the information below.
Since the Community Health Crisis Team launched Stage 1 of our COVID-19 on Tuesday, the plans and processes put into place have already changed. Stage 1 included the launch of a Community Health Crisis Needs Intake Form to identify and help meet the needs of those most vulnerable in our community.
On Tuesday, Jewish Family Service learned that their facility had exposure to the virus. Based on the guidelines of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), JFS had no other choice but to cease operations at the physical location, including the food pantry. The facility will remain closed until it is safe to reopen. This decision was not made lightly and was mandated and necessary to keep both staff and clients safe.
While the JFS food pantry is closed, their Kosher Home Delivered Meals program continues to operate with modifications to ensure less contact between clients and volunteers. During the closure, JFS continues to offer their other services remotely. Click here for details.
The Aaron Family JCC’s senior meal program is still functioning, but in a different capacity. The campus is officially closed but individuals and families seeking a meal, can participate in a drive-up, meal pick up program offered Monday – Friday between 12 – 1 pm located in front of the JCC.
For those effected by COVID-19 and not currently enrolled in the senior meal program or JFS Meals on Wheels, this service is available through our Community Health Crisis Needs Intake Form.
In addition, the Jewish Federation of Greater Dallas is committed to supplementing the temporary closure of JFS’s food pantry by offering a gift card which is also available through our Community Health Crisis Needs Intake Form. If you are not currently being served by JFS, JCC hot meal program or Legacy at Home, you are eligible for a gift card while donations last.
For those still willing to help, we are now only accepting gift cards to grocery stores in lieu of food and personal item donations. Suggested gift cards include Kosher Palate, Milk and Honey, Amazon, Walmart, Tom Thumb, Walgreens, CVS. Gift cards can be dropped off at the JCC guard gate ONLY, Monday – Friday between 9 am – 5 pm.
Should you prefer to purchase gift cards online, you are welcome to do so. We ask that you forward the purchase confirmation email to the Jewish Federation of Greater Dallas at [email protected].
Thank you for your continued support, understanding and patience during this unprecedented and trying time. We were Here For You prior to this pandemic and are committed to be Here For Good after this has passed. In the meantime, we are serving those most vulnerable in our community to the best of our collective abilities.
Most importantly, we ask that you continue to stay safe, be diligent, and stay hopeful as we look forward to being on the other side of this soon.
Warm regards,
