Here To Help: Tomchei Shabbos & JFS Kosher Corner Food Pantry

Tomchei Shabbos
Founded in 2010, Tomchei Shabbos (“Supporters of Shabbat”) of Dallas’ goal is to lovingly and anonymously providing essential Shabbat food to needy Jewish families in our community.
Our vetting process is conducted with the utmost discretion, care and privacy. Recipients are sent credits via email which can be used only for the purchase Kosher food. The food can be ordered online and picked up without anyone knowing that the food has been paid for with Tomchei Shabbos-provided credit. Every part of our process is structured in the spirit of Mattan Beseter, allowing both the donors and donees complete anonymity.
Tomchei Shabbos is entirely supported by the compassion, generosity and financial support of the Dallas Jewish community.

We are a “client-choice food pantry” which allows for individuals seeking food assistance to choose the products they bring home to their families. Clients may make an appointment once a month and come into the food pantry to pick the products that they like to eat. We always carry a core list of items based on nutritional guidelines from the North Texas Food Bank, like canned fruits, vegetables, and proteins, beans, grains, meat, and eggs, along with various donated items such as bread, frozen meals, and produce.
The Client-Choice Shopping Model will reopen beginning Tuesday, October 5, 2021 from 9 am – 1:00 pm by appointment only. We are introducing a new scheduling tool for all clients. Appointments are required and enforced. Please create an account to schedule an appointment. If you do not have reliable internet access, call 972-437-9950 to schedule.
Our volunteer “shoppers” walk through the pantry with our clients and help explain what items they may place in their cart based on the size of their family and what we have in stock. This model creates a more dignified experience for the client and reduces food waste due to preference and dietary constraints. Our food pantry also allows for clients to meet with a Case Manager to help meet other needs available throughout the agency.
