What Dallas Will Do About Governor Abbott’s Plan
Friend —
You have probably read and heard quite a bit about Governor Greg Abbott’s plan to gradually allow the reopening of some Texas businesses beginning Friday.
This graphic lays out what to expect:

I discussed the governor’s plan and what success means with CBS 11, Fox 4, NBC5, The Dallas Morning News, and CNN’s Don Lemon.
Watch the CBS 11 segment here:
And check out the full interview with Julie Fine of NBC5 by clicking the image below.
As you will hear in the interviews, regardless of how you might feel about the decision, it is the governor’s to make under state law.
Now it’s up to local leaders to help ensure the success of Governor Abbott’s plan. And in this case, success means saving lives while also allowing some people to get back to work.
In the days ahead, I will push for more COVID-19 testing and better contact tracing, which will be critical to the reopening efforts. And I will emphasize the need for people to continue to act responsibly amid this continuing pandemic. Public health and saving lives must come first, even as the public and private sectors work together to restore livelihoods.
Dallas residents have done a wonderful of handling this pandemic’s effects, and this new phase will require continued vigilance. That means it’s imperative for you to do all you can to stay safe and stay informed.
