Texas: School Choice Action Alert!

On Friday, the Senate introduced SB2, a $1 billion Education Savings Account (ESA) proposal. What’s Included: All students, regardless of income, can apply for $11,500 ESA for educational expenses including private school tuition.
How Funds Are Allocated:
If fewer applicants than funds: Everyone gets an ESA. If more applicants than funds: 80% of funds go to low-income students who attended public school the previous year. The remaining $200 million goes to a lottery for others.
What We’re Advocating For:
We’re pushing to prioritize all low-income students, even if they didn’t attend public school the previous year.
What You Can Do:
to send a respectful message to Lt. Gov. Patrick and Senate Education Chair Brandon Creighton
urging them to prioritize ALL low income students.
When you are finished, please share with your family and friends in Texas.
