Help Save Isaac’s Life
For those of you that were at shul this past Friday night, you heard about this. Unfortunately my father (the Yitzchak of Beit Yitzchak) was given a few weeks to live from the doctors. While we believe in miracles, we see his rapid decline by the day.
There is one last treatment he wants to try, one that is proven to help reduce stage 4 cancer by up to 50% - but it comes with quite a price tag.
As his children, we’ve put together what we could on our own, but we still have a way to go. This TOL treatment starts next Monday- but the first payment of $40,000 needs to be submitted by this Wednesday if we want him to be included.
It would mean more than you could imagine if you could help us spread this link around the community and make this a reality.
Dalia Oziel
Hi everyone.
Our father, Isaac Oziel, has been fighting pancreatic cancer for over two years now. If you know anything about pancreatic cancer, you know it’s considered the deadliest — because of its aggressive nature, how hard it is to catch early, and how quickly it spreads. Most are lucky to have just a few months. We do not take for granted that we’ve had Dad fighting to stay with us for these two years.
And fight he has.
Dad has been through endless rounds of chemo, the brutal Whipple surgery (where they removed not just tumors but a few organs), and experimental clinical trials, where he was poked and prodded every hour for 14-hour days at a time.
Despite all of his fighting, in the past year the cancer spread from his pancreas to his lungs. The doctors said the tumors are not only large but innumerable. Most recently, Dad endured 12 grueling weeks of chemo with no break — and it didn’t make a dent. He then opted for a clinical trial over the past two months, for which he had to be off of chemo.
This week, we received devastating news that the trial didn’t work. His latest scan showed significant tumor growth in his lungs and new growth in his bronchial capillaries, explaining his inability to breathe and his rapid decline. He now needs oxygen almost all day and can barely walk a few steps without stopping to catch his breath.
The doctors are now speaking in terms of weeks, not months.
But Dad is a fighter — and he wants to try one last thing.
As his family, we’re determined to do everything we can to make it happen for him.
We are urgently working to get him to the CORE hospital in Tijuana, Mexico — a specialized integrative medical center offering TOL (Targeted Osmotic Lysis) therapy. TOL is a groundbreaking treatment that destroys cancer cells by disrupting their sodium-potassium balance while sparing healthy cells. It is a groundbreaking treatment that essentially gets cancer cells to burst.
You may be wondering — where did we find out about this, and what gives us hope?
Chaya Adelman, a nurse and dear friend from our Dallas community, reached out to us a short while ago. She shared that her cousin — who was wheelchair-bound, barely able to breathe, stage 4, and given just weeks to live — underwent one round of this treatment and had over a 50% reduction in his cancer. He is now standing, breathing unassisted, and shocking all of his doctors. He has since been back for two additional treatments.
We knew this was something we wanted to try, but it came with a high price tag, so we chose to exhaust all other options first. One of those was the clinical trial we mentioned above, which we had high hopes for, but G-d had other plans. Dad was one of the first humans who was used for testing for this drug after animal testing, so we knew it was a risk.
The difference with the TOL treatment is that it has been proven to work, especially for cancers as advanced as our father’s. We spoke to the patients of this treatment, as well as the center directly, and found out that ALL of their pancreatic cancer patients saw a 20–50% reduction after the first round. This is exactly what our sweet father needs.
We see this as Dad’s best chance: to knock down the tumors in his lungs (which are inoperable), regain strength, and eventually knock down enough of the tumors that he can get enough energy for a chemo combination called FOLFIRINOX — a brutal but proven treatment for late pancreatic cancer, but one he is too weak to receive right now.
Time is critical. Every day, we see his condition worsen. His doctors said that at this stage, it moves quickly. He can start treatment next Monday, May 5th – but it comes at a high cost, and we cannot cover it alone.
We have already raised $15,000, which you’ll see reflected in the total amount above. Our goal is to raise enough for two treatments — $80,000 in total. Most urgently, we need to raise $40,000 for the first treatment by this Wednesday.
With the support of our Dallas community and beyond, we hope to make this possible and get Dad the urgent care he needs. Every contribution — no matter the size — brings us closer to giving him a real chance.
Thank you, from the bottom of our hearts.
