A Legacy of Light: Celebrating Rabbi Fried’s 33 Years of Impact

It is with profound gratitude and deep admiration that Congregation Ohr HaTorah submits this letter to honor Rabbi Yerachmiel D. Fried for his remarkable 33 years of service to the Dallas Jewish community. As the founder and Rosh HaKollel of the Dallas Area Torah Association, Rabbi Fried has been a beacon of Torah learning, spiritual guidance, and community building, leaving an indelible mark on our congregation and the broader Dallas Jewish landscape.
Since arriving in Dallas in 1992 from Jerusalem, Rabbi Fried transformed a modest vision into a thriving hub of Jewish life. Under his leadership, DATA grew from a small rabbinical training program into a dynamic organization that has touched thousands of lives through its educational programs, one-on-one learning, retreats, and Shabbatons. His dedication to making Torah accessible to Jews of all backgrounds , which stems from his deep love of Hashem and His Torah, has fostered a vibrant and inclusive community.
Rabbi Fried’s impact extends far beyond the walls of our shul. His commitment to both outreach and in-reach has nurtured generations of learners, from beginners to advanced scholars, and has inspired the establishment of vital community institutions such as the Dallas Community Kollel, Torah Day School, and Mesorah Girls High School. His ability to connect with individuals—whether through his weekly columns, shiurim, or personal counseling—has made him a trusted guide and role model, embodying the beauty and depth of Jewish tradition.
Since Rebbetzin Marcy has joined the Dallas Jewish Community she has worked tirelessly to embrace others with her warmth and passion for spreading Torah learning. From being a kind listening ear for many, hosting company and classes in her home to founding JWBLING, Rebbetzin Marcy has made a tremendous impact on the women in Dallas.
As Rabbi Fried and Rebbetzin Marcy prepare to make Aliyah to Eretz Yisrael this July, we reflect on the legacy they leave behind: a flourishing community united by Torah, tefillah, and chesed. Their 33 years of service have not only strengthened Dallas Jewry but have also set a foundation for continued growth. We wish them much hatzlacha on this next stage of their journey in spreading Torah and being Mikadesh Shem Shamayim.
Sincerely,
Rabbi Aryeh Feigenbaum
