Rav Yosef Tzvi Rimon: Knowing IDF Soldiers Through Their Halachic Questions
Bio of Rav Rimon:
Rav Yosef Zvi Rimon is an internationally acclaimed “posek” of Halacha, author, educator, and lecturer. Individuals and communities from around the globe turn to him regarding complex questions in Halacha, the responses of which have been pivotal in helping shape the contemporary Jewish world. Through his book series, Halacha MiMekora, Rav Rimon has become known worldwide for developing an innovative methodology for teaching Halacha, taking the reader from the sources to the practical application of Halacha in our modern reality within the framework of a user-friendly, pedagogical methodology.
Rav Rimon is the Chief Rabbi of Gush Etzion and is the Rosh Yeshiva of Lev Academic Center (JCT), as well as the community rabbi of Alon Shvut South. Rav Rimon is also Founder and Chairman of JobKatif (recently re-branded as La’Ofek), originally established to help the former residents of Gush Katif, and now develops an array of employment-based projects aimed at rehabilitating sidelined populations in Israel, including Ethiopian-Israelis, needy soldiers and discharged lone soldiers, and youth at risk.
In recognition of his outstanding achievements, Rav Rimon was awarded the Katz Prize in 2018 for the application of Halacha in modern society, the President’s Prize for Volunteerism in 2008, and the Moskowitz Prize for Zionism in 2014 for his revolutionary Chessed initiatives.
Rav Rimon is married to Rabbanit Sharon, a highly accomplished educator and scholar in her own right, and is the father of eight girls.
