Statement of Agudath Israel of America on Today’s Military Actions in Iran

Dear friends and supporters of Agudas Yisroel,

Following the wide-ranging military actions undertaken by the United States and Israel against the Iranian regime, Agudath Israel of America calls upon Jews everywhere to intensify their tefillos on behalf of our brethren in Eretz Yisroel and throughout the world.

At this critical and historic hour, as the Jewish People once again find themselves confronting those who seek their destruction, our primary response must be spiritual. We urge Jews everywhere to increase tefillah in heartfelt supplication to the Ribbono Shel Olam for the safety and protection of Klal Yisroel, especially the millions of Jews in Eretz Yisroel and those who are on the front lines of this unfolding conflict.

The timing of these events, in the days surrounding Purim, is deeply resonant. Purim reminds us that even when powerful enemies rise against the Jewish people, salvation comes through tefillah, unity, and unwavering bitachon in Hashem. Just as in the days of Mordechai and Esther, when a genocidal tyrant sought to annihilate our people, we turn first and foremost to tefillah and renewed commitment to Torah and mitzvos.

The Iranian regime has for decades been the world’s leading state sponsor of terror, spreading violence and instability across the Middle East and beyond. Its leadership has openly called for the destruction of Israel while oppressing its own people with brutality and repression. The elimination of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei — a dictator who ruled through fear, fueled terror, and denied basic freedoms to millions — marks a significant moment in the struggle against radical extremism.

We express our deep appreciation to President Donald J. Trump and his administration for their steadfast support of the people of Israel and their consistent resolve in confronting terror wherever it raises its ugly head. The United States’ unwavering partnership with Israel has been a vital pillar of stability and security, and decisive action against those who threaten innocent lives is a moral imperative.

At the same time, we recognize that moments of geopolitical upheaval are fraught with uncertainty. We are already witnessing retaliation and heightened tensions in multiple arenas. The situation remains fluid and dangerous.

We therefore urge heightened awareness and intensified tefillah for the safety of our brethren in Eretz Yisroel and in Jewish communities everywhere. Especially during this Purim season, when our Sages teach us that prayer is particularly powerful, let us pour out our hearts to the Shomei’a Tefillah. Let us strengthen our sense of achdus and responsibility for one another. Let us increase our limud haTorah and our acts of chessed.

And may the One who performed miracles for our ancestors in those days, at this time, once again shield His people from harm and bring about lasting peace and security for the people of Israel and for the entire world.
