TAG Recommended MP3 Player List
After receiving many inquiries recently on kosher MP3 players, the following is general guidance that should be of value to everyone.
Question: Why do MP3 Players even need to be “kosher”?
Answer: The goal of MP3 Players is to provide a safe way for kids to have access to an offline library of music that parents and kids choose together. However, many MP3 players today have advanced features such as wifi, videos and radio. In addition, if the MP3 player has an SD card slot, they can easily swap with friends that may have audio files of which parents would not approve.
Question: Can I just get any MP3 player and have TAG remove those features?
Answer: There are ways to physically remove the wifi chip and SD card functionality from some models, but there is a list of available models without these features, so TAG of Dallas does not support the removal of these features from non-kosher models.
IMPORTANT: When searching for the approved models, you must make sure to match the model exactly as listed. Even a minor variation might mean that you purchased a non-kosher version.
WHERE TO BUY: You can find some of these models in various stores, but I recommend DB Electronics store in Lakewood: https://www.dbstoreonline.net/collections/mp3-players-1
See attached for approved MP3 Players. Models with a green level of safety are recommended. If you are ok with an SD card slot, you can choose a model with a non-green safety level.
