Announcing the Establishment of the Dallas Rabbinical Council
To the Dallas Jewish Community,
With gratitude to Hashem and a deep sense of communal commitment, we are pleased to share an essential and meaningful development for Orthodox Jewish life in Dallas: the establishment of the Dallas Rabbinical Council (DRC) — a unified group of rabbanim dedicated to serving the religious, halachic, and spiritual needs of our growing community.
Over the past few years, and with increasing urgency, it has become clear that the Dallas Orthodox community would benefit significantly from a centralized, organized rabbinic body. This realization was further strengthened by encouragement and guidance from established rabbinical councils in other cities and by thoughtful discussion among Dallas rabbanim.
The DRC is not intended to replace the authority of individual congregational rabbis, but rather to support them — strengthening the fabric of our community through coordination, clarity, and shared responsibility.
A Spirit of Achdus in Leadership
In a true spirit of humility and achdus, Rabbi Mendel Dubrawsky of Chabad of Dallas and Rabbi Aryeh Feigenbaum of Congregation Ohr HaTorah have agreed to serve as Co-Presidents of the Dallas Rabbinical Council.
In addition:
- Rabbi Ariel Rackovsky of Congregation Shaare Tefilla has agreed to serve as Vice-President
- Rabbi Yaakov Rich of Congregation Toras Chaim has agreed to serve as Secretary/Treasurer
This leadership model underscores an essential value of the DRC: that communal strength is built through collaboration, respect, and unity among our rabbinic leadership.
Why Dallas Needs the DRC
At the inaugural meeting of the Dallas Rabbinical Council (DRC), the rabbanim articulated the profound benefits of this centralized group, including:
- A unified rabbinic voice for the Dallas Orthodox community
- Consistency and oversight in critical areas of communal life
- Clear standards and accountability in matters such as:
- Geirus
- Kashrus
- Tzedakah
- Mikvaos
- Eiruvin
- Gittin
- Chevra Kadisha
- Bikur Cholim
- Communal stability and credibility, both internally and with outside institutions
- A forum for cooperation among rabbanim to address emerging communal needs with care, halachic integrity, and foresight
Looking Ahead
As the Dallas Jewish community continues to grow, the establishment of the Dallas Rabbinical Council (DRC) represents an essential step in ensuring that our infrastructure of Torah leadership grows alongside it. With strong bylaws, transparent governance, and broad rabbinic participation, the DRC aims to serve the community with integrity and dedication.
We ask for the community’s tefillos, trust, and partnership as this vital institution takes shape. May our shared efforts be a source of Kiddush Hashem, and may we merit to see this initiative strengthen Torah life throughout Dallas.
With great respect,
The Dallas Rabbinical Council
