What can you do to make us stronger in Washington?
Dear Friends:
We need your help.
Now, more than ever.
A little over 32 years ago, an Agudath Israel dream was fulfilled. Indeed it was a dream embraced by the entire American Orthodox Jewish community. For the first time, Orthodox Jews would have a full time presence, a full time voice, in the nation’s capital. And thus, the Agudath Israel Washington Office was born.
Since that time, we have steadily and consistently spoken out and worked hard to protect the rights of our community and to advance its interests, at home and abroad — helping to put a distinctive stamp on the nation’s laws and public policies.
Three decades – of advocacy at the White House and federal agencies, on Capitol Hill, and at the Supreme Court; of working with 6 Presidents and their Administrations and with 16 Congresses; and of having our voice effectively and eloquently heard in numerous landmark constitutional cases.
Three decades – of fighting for religious freedom and autonomy; of combating anti-Semitism and discrimination; of physically securing our community and its institutions; and of protecting our rights and interests in such critical areas as employment, housing, education, health care, etc., and in maintaining the faith-based policies and mission of our mosdos.
Three decades – of fighting for fair and equal treatment for our shuls, yeshivos, Bais Yaakovs, day schools, charities, individuals and families; and of helping to bring in hundreds of millions of federal assistance dollars into our community for education, child care, housing, food and nutrition, health and safety, security equipment and personnel, disaster relief, and other critical services.
Three decades – of speaking out in court, in the media and in the public square on contemporary social, moral and family issues that affect our nation, communities and families in so many distinct and consequential ways.
Three decades – of working hard to strengthen the U.S.-Israel relationship diplomatically, militarily and economically; of protecting the security and rights of Jews overseas, and of fighting international terror and anti-Semitism.
Three decades – of progress and achievement for the klal and for the yachid.
But our work is surely far from over.
There is much at stake. We need to redouble our strength and our efforts to serve and protect the interests of our community – and its future – in the best way we can. We must intensify, expand and enhance our Washington work.
And that’s why we need your help. Urgently.
Please donate generously to this year’s fundraising campaign. You can donate by going to charidy.com/AgudahNational/rich and know that every dollar you donate will be doubled by a group of generous matchers! And may I request that you forward this email to others you know with the suggestion that they contribute as well?
Many thanks!
Please partner with us, and with Hashem’s help, may we go from strength to strength.
